'Get That Azzhole?', GTAzz to its friends, was first launched on the 27th May 1998. Originally conceived as a rather mediocre generic GTA fan site, GTAzz quickly evolved into a specialist user car site. Through persistance, and no small dint of effort on the part of its staff, it finally saw off the last of the competition and became the largest GTA car repository.
The site is primarily run by Simon 'Azz' Marshall, but has had a huge host of willing volunteers to help out with the car reviews. This list includes Paul, JH4C, Maindrian, JL, Alfadog, Mademan, Mewish, JJHW and Dup. This site owes a huge debt to all who have been involved. Apologies to anyone missed off the list.
GTAzz has gone through numerous design iterations. Here are some screenshots for the more nostalgic amongst you.
Not the first design, but from late 98/early 99.
Not sure if this is before the one below or after. It isn't quite complete, but the web archive did its best.
My personal favourite of the old designs. Was one of the retro skins on the last iteration of the site.
Much more moody than the previous one and lasted quite a while as I recall.
Short lived design. The boxes were all turned into collapsible divs saved in cookies, so you could customise your view of the site.
One of my better designs I think. All the images at the top blurred on roll over.
A temporary adjustment of the above design marking the release of Vice City.
Designed but never launched as a stand alone, this became the alternate skin on the last iteration of the site.
The last design of the site, too many empty sections though prompted the introduction of this wiki.
Quite liked this, an alternate skin on the last iteration, done by inverting the above colour scheme.
If you happen to have a screen grab of the first site design (in fact there may have been two before the white one) please let me have a copy. I do have a copy of the second GTAzz logo, designed by Mythe. I'll put a copy of that here too. GTAzz Museum possibly?
